Settling in and starting

We understand how daunting it may feel to leave your child with us, it may be the first time you have left them with anyone who isn’t part of your family.  We take settling in very slowly, initially starting with hour long settles, increasing to half days and then increasing to full days at nursery.  This gives both you and your child the time to really get to know us and start to build our relationship together.

Every child is assigned their own key person when they start at nursery.  The key person approach ensures that every child, and family has a person with whom they can form a special and nurturing relationship with.  This enables every child to feel emotional secure while they are away from home and provides a reassuring point of contact for parents.

We have an app that we use to communicate with our parents, called Parentzone.  We have found using this online system is a great way to strengthen our parent partnerships.  It has had a positive environmental effect too, as we have massively reduced our use of paper. 

Every day we will send you a moment, either a photograph or video so you can see what your little one is getting up to.  We also send longer observations which track your child’s development and highlight their next steps of learning.  We also send our medication and accident forms through the app.  You can also communicate directly with your child’s key person, report sickness or let us know about holidays.
